The Teacher Tribe is a community supporting teachers in creating more meaningful, playful, and connected learning experiences for children.

Through curriculum-aligned resources, classroom projects, training, inspiration, and practical support, we help teachers transform learning in ways that nurture creativity, confidence, communication, wellbeing, and genuine engagement.

Mireia led a webinar in our members area for The Family Edit and the feedback was amazing! She spoke about Connection Through Play, and gave so many tips and ideas that parents can implement immediately. She was never telling people what to do, she acknowledged each family is different, and the ideas are ones that we can all adapt to our own homes.Mireia's passion for working with children of all ages was evident throughout. Her knowledge and expertise was very clear as she gave examples, suggestions and ideas.

We worked with Mireia Lopez and Discovery Playtime to completely revamp the creativity side of our adventure camps, starting with a review of our arts and crafts segment. What we quickly realised was that everything Mireia brought to the table was relevant across the board, her insights and approach will impact every part of our camp experience.

I did a Webinar with Mireia last week and it was well worth it. She reminded me of the simplicity of play and how important it is for kids and really it can be the simplest setups that work best. The onion story was great.Something that really stuck with me was the aspect of a magic moment. Seeing a moment a child wants to share with you and really engaging with it to show trust and connection. She's such a good speaker and really inspiring

Built around the Play for Growth framework, our approach recognises that children learn best through connection, participation, curiosity, creativity, and real-life experiences.

We believe meaningful classrooms are not created through pressure and overload, but through thoughtful teaching, supportive environments, and learning experiences that truly meet the needs of children today.

About the founder: Mireia Lopez

Mireia Lopez is a Play-Based Learning Specialist, educator, trainer, podcast host, and founder of Discovery Playtime. Her work is rooted in years of real-life experience working directly with children, families, teachers, schools, and educational settings across Ireland.

With a background in primary school teaching, a Master’s in Psychology of Education, training in play therapy, assessment, neurodiversity, and child development, Mireia brings together both educational and psychological understanding to support children in a more meaningful and holistic way. Her approach is not based on trends or theory alone, but on years of observing children, understanding their developmental needs, and seeing firsthand the impact that play, connection, creativity, and emotional safety can have on learning and wellbeing.

Over the years, Mireia has worked across a wide variety of settings including schools, early years environments, camps, workshops, family events, and teacher training programmes. She has designed and delivered educational experiences for hundreds of children through Discovery Playtime, always with a strong focus on confidence, communication, creativity, self-expression, problem-solving, and connection through play.

Alongside her work with children and families, Mireia has also developed and delivered teacher training programmes in more than 20 schools, supporting educators in bringing more meaningful, engaging, and developmentally appropriate approaches into their classrooms. Her training goes beyond simply “covering the curriculum” and instead focuses on helping teachers create learning experiences that children genuinely connect with and remember.

"It's not what we know, but how we use what we know in the world that really matters"

Mireia is also the host of the Rediscovering Childhood Podcast, where she speaks with parents, teachers, therapists, and experts about education, child development, parenting, creativity, play, and the future of learning. Through these conversations, she encourages a deeper reflection on what children truly need to thrive in today’s world.

Her passion comes from a deep belief that play is not “extra”: it is one of the most powerful tools we have to support children’s emotional wellbeing, confidence, creativity, communication, and long-term development. She is equally passionate about supporting teachers, understanding the overwhelm many educators experience, and helping them reconnect with the joy, creativity, and purpose behind teaching.

Everything Mireia creates is designed to make a meaningful difference in children’s lives while also empowering the adults guiding them every day.
